Since restaurants in Bali often close unexpectedly and new ones open just as quickly, having someone on the ground who can fact-check makes this article much more helpful than one written by someone who just visited Bali for a few months.

1. Sa’Mesa
A night at Sa’Mesa is a dinner experience like no other, and it’s clear why so many people are obsessed with this unique dining concept. You’ll share an authentic Italian family-style dinner with a group of strangers who will become new friends by the end of the night.
In addition to 15+ delicious Italian courses, you’ll get to enjoy free-flow limoncello, which quickly turns a sit-down dinner into a lively party.
Whether you’re looking for a unique date night in Canggu, celebrating a special occasion in Bali, or just want a fun night out with friends, Sa’Mesa is always the answer. Their food is absolutely delicious, and it’s even vegan or vegetarian-friendly if you let them know when booking.
With a set dinner time every night, seats always sell out, so you need to secure your spot in advance. Sa’Mesa is located in central Canggu, but they also have a second restaurant in Seminyak, so definitely check their availability should Canggu be fully booked.

2. Riviera
Riviera is a great Italian restaurant for a date night, especially if you’re looking for a more elevated cuisine. Their dishes are Italian and Mediterranean, with plenty of seafood and fusion involved.
We love that the menu here is constantly evolving and changing, so you can come back over and over again without getting bored.
Riviera definitely goes beyond just pizza and pasta and never disappoints. Their outside courtyard is a great place for lunch or dinner, and you can also visit the Riveria Cafe, which is located about 15 minutes from Canggu in Cemagi.

3. ARTE
ARTE is an Italian restaurant and art space located just metres from the beach in Pererenan, close to central Canggu. Their pizza is some of the best in Bali, and combined with the beautifully decorated interior of the restaurant, having dinner here is a must-do. Vegan and gluten-free options are available, so there is something for everyone.
In addition to Canggu, you can also try their Ubud venue, which opened in early 2024.
Of course, the pasta served at ARTE is homemade, and their delicious artisanal gelato is the perfect dessert to conclude your meal.
There are always events and exhibitions going on at ARTE, so keep an eye out for new art work. On Wednesdays, you can enjoy live jazz music, but make sure to book a table as it does get pretty busy.

4. Pizza Fabbrica Canggu
Pizza Fabbrica is a classic Italian dinner spot located right in the heart of Canggu. Their pizzas are made using their special maturation method that creates a more flavourful and light crust, which might just become your new favourite.
Their restaurant in Canggu is cosy and a great place to have dinner with friends. You can also stop by their Umalas location or their sister-restaurant Pronto in Kuta.
Pizza Fabbrica definitely uses high-quality ingredients for their dishes, and it’s easy to tell. The tomato sauce is from Italy, and the focaccia is absolutely incredible, so make sure to try it.

5. La Baracca
Located on the popular Tanah Barak Street, La Baracca is one of our go-to Italian restaurants for a romantic dinner. The food is authentic, and prices are reasonable, so there is really no excuse not to head here asap.
Definitely try to get a table upstairs, where you’ll get a nice rice field view and a more cosy dinner atmosphere. La Baracca is definitely popular, so make reservations if you’re planning on coming here on a weekend.
I love their pasta dishes, and the fact that they have a full vegan and vegetarian menu available is much appreciated. There are also gluten-free options, which can be hard to come by when it comes to Italian food.
In addition to Canggu, La Baracca also has locations in Petitenget, Ubud and Uluwatu, so you can come dine here no matter at which of Bali’s tourist hotspots you currently are.

6. Luigi’s Hot Pizza
Luigi’s was one of Canggu’s first Italian restaurants and has remained one of the most popular in town. They’re especially famous for their Metto Monday parties, where the restaurant turns into a nightclub, and there is plenty of limoncello and techno music.
This place is definitely the largest Italian restaurant in Canggu, and even on other nights of the week, there is usually loud music, so don’t expect this to be a quiet dinner spot.
Their garden area is great for bocce, and they even host competitions sometimes if you’re looking for a fun new challenge. Keep an eye out for the Club Di Pasta events or Crush Friday, where you can often get great discounts on food and drinks.
The pizza and pasta are definitely delicious and highly recommended.

Bottega Italiana is an Italian place on Canggu’s Batu Bolong Street, and they also have a second venue in Berawa and Pererenan. It’s quite small and feels like a neighbourhood Italian with anything from antipasti and homemade pasta to risotto, cured meat and cheese to panini and much more.
We always love the service here, and the staff definitely go above and beyond to make you feel welcome.
Their desserts and baked goods are also highly recommended, and Bottega Italiana is one of the few Italian places in Canggu that is open for breakfast.

8. L’Osteria Pizza e Cucina Canggu
Head to L’Osteria in the busy neighbourhood of Berawa in Canggu if you’re looking for a new date-night spot or a place to take your friends, it’s a great choice.
We love their Neopolitan pizzas, which are made with sourdough. There is a full vegan menu available and also gluten-free or halal options, making this a great spot to try if someone in your group has dietary requirements.
The pasta is homemade and the gnocchi with Stracciatella di Burrata is one of my personal favourites in all of Canggu. Prices are reasonable at L’Osteria, and the night is not complete without trying their limoncello, so make sure to get a shot to finish off your dinner.

9. La Bussola
La Bussola is a small Italian restaurant located in northern Pererenan. We usually order here using grab or gojek, but since the place is rarely very crowded, you can also come by to dine in if you’re feeling up for it.
We love that La Bussola always has food or drink promos on, including all-you-can-eat pizza, 2-4-1 pasta and much more.
The pizza here is fantastic and the staff is lovely, so we couldn’t recommend La Bussola more.

Best vegan Italian restaurant in Canggu
It’s not easy to make good vegan Italian food, but this restaurant in Canggu definitely has figured it out. If you’re looking for more Italian places with good vegan options we would recommend Sa’Mesa, La Baracca, L’Osteria or ARTE.
10. Kasto
Kasto is the only all-vegan Italian restaurant in Canggu, and if you’re looking for plant-based options that don’t sacrifice taste, this is the place to go.
It’s not always easy to make good vegan food, especially if a lot of cheese is involved, but at Kasto, you most likely won’t even notice that many of the dishes are vegan. A lot of their ingredients, including their pasta, meatballs, and pizza dough, are hand-made daily, which makes the quality of the food exceptional.
They always have cocktail or food promos, and prices are reasonable, so there is no excuse not to come here for lunch or dinner. Even non-vegans will love it and I personally would recommend their gnocchi dishes and ragu sauce.

If you’re craving Italian food but want to stick to a budget, definitely try this restaurant, especially for gojek or grab delivery.
11. Roman Pizza
Roman is the best budget-friendly Italian place to order from in Canggu. You can also dine in at one of their restaurants in Canggu, Berawa and Umalas, but there is very limited seating, so don’t expect a spacious restaurant.
The value for money at Roman is unmatched in Canggu, and they are extremely fast with their orders. We can sometimes have our pizza delivered in under 20 minutes, which is fantastic for Bali.
For a quick pizza or pasta fix that won’t break the bank, Roman is highly recommended.

Best Italian bakery and desserts in Canggu
Italian food is more than just pizza and pasta, and the sweet parts are often the best. Here are some unmissable Italian desserts, gelato and bakeries in Canggu.
12. Buongiorno
The best Italian bakery in Bali is located right in Canggu, and if you’ve been looking for a new spot to get authentic baked goods, pastries, fresh juices, sandwiches and more, you need to try Buongiorno asap. It’ wuickly become one of my favourite breakfast places.
We always come here to get coffee and buy bread, which is the best in Canggu, in my opinion. The cafe is small and cosy, so you can also come here and get some work done on your laptop for a few hours while being supplied with pastries and hot coffee by the friendly staff.
Buongiorno is a part of the Sa’Mesa family, so if you fell in love with their incredible bread and desserts during your dinner experience there, you’ll be happy to know that you can find the entire selection at Buongiorno.
Plus, their homemade limoncello is for sale too, which might just be the best part.

13. Ettore Gelato
Italy means gelato, and Ettore in Pererenan has the best authentic gelato in the Canggu area. They have a great mixture of classic and unique flavours and I can’t even begin to pick a favourite one, that’s how good they are.
This place definitely gets busy, so expect to stand in line if you come here on a weekend or around sunset time.
Ettore is open until midnight, which means you can come here even if it’s already late. Ettore is pretty reasonably priced compared to other ice cream shops around Canggu, which we love.

How much are Italian restaurants in Canggu?
How expensive a restaurant is can be very subjective, so we came up with a very basic rating system for the approximate prices of the places on this list. Here is a rough guide.
$ – many options of main dishes under IDR 75,000 or considerable discounts and promos
$$ – most main dishes cost between IDR 80,000 and IDR 120,000
$$$ – most main dishes cost at least IDR 120,000 or more
Don’t forget that most restaurants in Canggu exclude tax and service in the prices on their menus, so you’ll have to factor in an additional 10% to 20% unless stated otherwise.
Generally, you can expect to spend at least IDR 400,000 to IDR 500,000 for a meal for two people at a mid-priced restaurant in Canggu, including one drink each.
