Why I’m the perfect person to help you find ideas for your birthday in Bangkok
Hi, I’m Victoria, and I’m your go-to source for South East Asia travel tips and information. I’ve been travelling to Thailand for more than 25 years, which feels crazy to say, but it’s true.
Needless to say, Thailand has changed a lot over the years, and I’m here to keep you updated on travel information and the best things to do or see. I live in Bali, which is just a short journey from beautiful Thailand, and I end up coming here several times per year for extended trips.
Whether you’re looking for the best Islands in Thailand, an ultimate island-hopping itinerary, or useful currency tips, I’ve got you covered.
It can be tricky to plan your birthday in a new city, especially if you don’t know anyone here or haven’t been there before. I’ve spent quite a lot of time in Bangkok over the years and even lived there briefly as a digital nomad, so I’ve collected plenty of fun and unusual birthday activities to try.
OUR TIP
If you’re not 100% sure yet where to celebrate your special day, I can also highly recommend spending your birthday in Bali, which is just as fun as Bangkok but involves a lot more beach clubs.
Where to buy birthday decorations in Bangkok
If you’re having an all-out birthday party in Bangkok, you’re going to need some decorations.
Most of the larger shopping malls will have some sort of stationary store or shop that sells basic decorations. Since Bangkok is such a large city, you might want to check if there is a party store around your area.
That being said, our favorite places to buy birthday decorations in Bangkok include:
- Party Animals Bangkok for custom birthday balloons and other decorations
- Piñata Party Store for decorations, party supplies, and even some costumes
- Bangkok Kids Party And Supplies Shop for decorations, planning help, and rental services such as bouncy houses, tables, chairs, and performers
- Balloonions for more upscale and elaborate custom balloons and birthday setups

Nightlife and things to do with friends for your birthday in Bangkok
When people think of celebrating their birthday, they usually mean dinners, drinks, and maybe a party. Bangkok is the perfect place for any of these birthday ideas, especially if you’ve got a group of friends to share them with.
Here are our top picks for a fun and boozy birthday in Bangkok with your loved ones.
1. Tuk-tuk night tour
There is nothing more fun than zipping through the busy traffic of Bangkok in a colorful tuk-tuk and seeing the best the city has to offer along the way.
We love this tuk-tuk night tour of Bangkok, which includes the best street food, temples, and night markets. Snacks, non-alcoholic drinks, and dinner are included, and you’ll have an unforgettable night exploring Bangkok

2. Have a group birthday dinner – our restaurant picks
Birthdays call for a fun birthday dinner with friends, and Bangkok’s dining options will not disappoint. Our top picks for birthday dinners in Thailand’s capital include:
- Aesops Rooftop: Greek cuisine and a fun, lively dinner atmosphere that even includes smashing plates and plenty of togas
- Pastel Rooftop & Bar: Classy dinner spot with great cocktails and a party atmosphere later at night

3. Eat, drink, and watch the performers at Staneemeehoi
Staneemeehoi is a restaurant unlike any other and a great place for a fun birthday night on a budget. The food and drinks are affordable, and the best part is the waiters, who double as performers and put on a hilarious and impressive dance show.
If you love drag and Bangkok’s wild side, you’ll love Staneemeehoi.
OUR TIP
Does planning a trip to Thailand feel overwhelming? We think you might like our review of the best organised group tours of Thailand. You’ll get to make new friends and enjoy your trip without having to worry about accommodation, transport or organising activities
4. Enjoy street food at one of the best night markets in Bangkok
Bangkok has great night markets, and a street food tour or shopping spree is a great activity for your birthday. Check out this super fun late-night food tour of Chinatown, which we always recommend to friends.
You might also like Patpong Nightmarket or Jodd Fairs Rama 9 Nightmarket.

5. Have fun at Soi Cowboy Street
Soi Cowboy Street is one of Bangkok’s most famous nightlife streets and the perfect spot to get drinks and try out different bars and clubs if you want some flexibility.
This is also a red-light district, so you’ll love it if you’re looking for a crazy night out you’ll never forget.
6. Party at the famous Khao San Road
Khao San Road is another famous nightlife area of Bangkok and is very popular among tourists and especially backpackers. There is also plenty of street food in the surrounding streets, and you’ll find a wide selection of fun bars, clubs, and restaurants.
While Khao San Road is very touristy and not a place where locals and Bangkok residents really go regularly, it’s still fun if you’re new to Thailand.

7. Rent a party bus
Take your birthday celebrations to a new level and rent a party bus in Bangkok. We recommend Party Bangkok or Party Vehicles Bangkok.
They’ve got plenty of fun options, including stretch limousines, sports cars, disco tuk-tuks, and more. You can also contact them if you need help planning VIP parties, performers, and everything you might need for a wild birthday bash.
8. Watch a comedy show
Going to a comedy show is an underrated and fun way to celebrate your birthday, and Bangkok might just be the best place to try it.
The Comedy Club Bangkok has events most nights, and you can also try Khaosan Comedy Club or Raw Comedy Asia. If it’s a larger show from a well-known comedian, you should definitely buy tickets in advance.
Best eSIM For Travellers
Getting a SIM card has never been this easy. We compared dozens of eSIM companies and found the best one.
9. Enjoy the view from one of Bangkok’s best rooftop bars
Bangkok is a city known for its rooftop bars, and with delicious cocktails and amazing views, you’ll love celebrating your special day here.
We recommend heading to Vertigo at The Banyan Tree Hotel, Moon Bar, Sky Bar, King Power Mahanakhon, or Eagle Nest Bar, which isn’t so high up but has stunning views of Wat Arun Temple.
Keep in mind that some of these bars might have a dress code, and it may be worth reserving a table to make sure you get a spot.

10. Watch a drag show
Bangkok has a huge drag community, and you’ll love a fun night out in the city’s LGBTQ neighborhoods. We love the drag shows at House of HEALS, the Stranger Bar, and Dreamboy Bangkok.
Make sure to double-check when drag shows are taking place at these venues since there aren’t events every single night.
11. Order a grazing table for your friends
If you’ve rented out a nice place in Bangkok or already have a home base there, you should consider ordering a grazing table for you and your friends to enjoy.
This is a fun and instagrammable way to cater your birthday celebrations and have delicious food options without having to decide on one dish to serve.
We recommend Graze+Blossom for all your grazing table needs in Bangkok.
12. Rent out a nice place and have a gettogether
Bangkok is known for its fantastic selection of apartments, and a great way to celebrate your birthday is to rent out a place and have a get-together with all your friends.
Just make sure that the place you get allows “parties” if you’re going to be inviting outside guests.
The Best Way To Experience Thailand
Group tours are an incredibly underrated way to travel and you’ll get to experience Thailand with new friends without any of the stress of planning. Compare the best tours here or check out my all-time favourite below.
13. Try a paint-and-sip class
A paint-and-sip class is one of the best things to do for your birthday, and it’s fun both for larger groups of people and solo travelers.
With the help of a talented instructor, you’ll get to create a masterpiece, all while enjoying plenty of drinks. We love Paint Bar Bangkok, which offers both private and shared group events.
14. Have a boozy brunch
Bangkok’s brunch scene offers delicious cuisine and free-flowing drinks, creating the perfect setting for your special day. Sip cocktails or sparkling wine while enjoying a variety of dishes from around the world.
It’s a lively yet relaxed affair, perfect for quality time with friends or loved ones in this vibrant city.
I would recommend going to Gigi Cafe, Red Oven, and Goji Kitchen+Bar.
15. Go to a karaoke bar
Karaoke is super popular in South East Asia, and it’s a great choice if you want to go out in the evening but don’t feel like going to a club.
You can either go to a karaoke place where you and your friends will have your own room with plenty of privacy, or you can go to a lively bar where you’ll perform in front of everyone.
Either one is super fun, and we recommend Karaoke City, Bar Savoy, or Woodball.
16. Have dinner by the river
Bangkok’s Chao Praya River is one of the most beautiful parts of the city, and it becomes awash with sunset colors every evening. There is no shortage of riverside restaurants to choose from for your special occasion, and we highly recommend trying:
- Chakrabongse Palace
- Above Riva
- Sirimahannop

17. Have fun at Hustlers Bangkok
Hustlers is one of my favorite places to go in Bangkok, especially for a special occasion like a birthday celebration. This sports bar has a huge pool hall, so you can challenge your friends to a fun game while sipping some ice-cold beers.
Is there a sports game you’d love to see on your birthday? This is definitely the place to go, and since this bar is absolutely huge, you can easily accommodate large groups here.
I’ve never had a boring night at Hustlers, and it’s the perfect spot to have pre-drinks before going out.
18. Go on a pub crawl or bar-hopping tour
A pub crawl is the perfect way to get to know a new city, and Bangkok’s incredible bars and clubs make it the ideal place to explore and have a few drinks along the way.
Pub Crawl Bangkok is probably the most popular in the city, although many hostels around Khao San Road also organize their own. You’ll get to visit four bars and one club, and there is even an hour of free-flow drinks.
Tickets start at THB 450 per person, and the evening takes place in the Sukhumvit neighborhood.
If you’re not feeling too crazy about spending your birthday with a big group of strangers, you can also join this slightly more tame bar hopping tour by My ProGuide Thailand, which is also available as a private option.

Relaxing and romantic Bangkok birthday ideas
Not every birthday needs to be a wild party night. Sometimes, all you crave is a cozy day with plenty of me-time and maybe a little bit of romance. Here are our top picks for quiet and relaxing birthday ideas in Bangkok for a special day.
19. Enjoy a luxury buffet dinner cruise with live music
Sometimes you want to celebrate a special occasion with your partner, but a romantic dinner just doesn’t seem special enough. In Bangkok, romantic dinner cruises are a fun way to enjoy the city at night and have some drinks and dinner as well as entertainment.
We went on this dinner cruise with some friends, and it was the perfect romantic night with a candlelight dinner, singers, and even dance performances.
Get to know Thai culture on your birthday in Bangkok and let yourself be transported through this incredible city.

20. Get a custom cake delivered
It’s not a birthday without some cake, and Bangkok’s world-class bakeries definitely deliver when it comes to custom orders. Whether you’re surprising a loved one or ordering a cake for yourself and your friends, you’ll love the selection of these renowned bakeries.
I’ve personally ordered from Hobby Cake and was super happy with the result, but I’ve also gotten to try the cakes from the other bakeries on this list, and they were highly recommended.
- Hobby Cake
- Woolloomooloo Cafe & Bar
- Brooklyn Baker
- Bake A Cake by Vathanya
21. Go to the cinema to watch a movie
Bangkok has some of the best cinemas in South East Asia, and tickets can be very affordable, costing as little as THB 100 per person.
If you spend a bit more, you can even cuddle up on a spacious reclining seat with a blanket and a waiter bringing you all the snacks and drinks you might need.
Of course, there are plenty of English-language movies to choose from in Bangkok, so you can enjoy your favorite film to celebrate your special day.
22. Go shopping at Bangkok’s most famous malls
Bangkok, much like Kuala Lumpur, is a city of shopping malls. Whether you want to show souvenirs, fake designer items, tech, or high-end brands, there is a shopping mall for you in Bangkok.
Icon Siam Shopping Mall, MBK Center, and CentralWorld are just some examples of great places to shop in Bangkok.
Of course, these malls are equipped with huge food courts where you can enjoy a delicious lunch, and some, like Icon Siam, even has an indoor floating market and its own pier where you can arrive by water taxi.
The Best Rental Car Deals
Discover Cars is the best platform for rental cars, with no hidden costs and fantastic prices.
23. Join a Thai cooking class
If you don’t want to leave your favorite Thai dishes behind when you return home after your Thailand trip, you should join a cooking class in Bangkok.
This is a great birthday activity for foodies and cooking enthusiasts who are looking for a hands-on birthday activity and plenty of fun.
I’ve joined this super popular cooking class, which includes a visit to a local market and limits the number of participants to a small group. I couldn’t recommend it more, it was one of my favorite experiences on that trip.

24. Spend the day at one of Bangkok’s best spas
A Thai massage is a must-do on any Bangkok trip, but if you want to truly feel special on your birthday, you should spend the day at a spa.
Of course, you’ll get to choose from a variety of massages, but you’ll also get to enjoy facials, beauty treatments, Aryuvedic therapy, hot stone therapy, and much more.
Some spas also have saunas, onsen, or steam rooms to round off the experience. You deserve to relax on your special day.
25. Relax at a rooftop pool bar
Imagine yourself floating in a pool with a view of Bangkok’s skyline and a drink in hand. That could be you on your birthday.
Leave the stress and worries behind and spend the day in style at the Water Club at SO/ Bangkok. Take part in a weekly pool party on the last Saturday of the month and enjoy their huge 32-metre infinity pool overlooking Lumpini Park.
Another great option is to stay at a hotel with a rooftop pool, like the beautiful Hilton Sukhumvit. Their pool is only accessible to hotel guests, so it’s even more exclusive.
26. Learn how to give massages at a massage workshop
Getting a massage is a great way to spend your birthday, but have you considered learning a new skill and joining a massage workshop?
This is best done with a partner who will definitely appreciate your new massage knowledge in the long run. There is no better place to learn than Thailand, and Bangkok is home to a number of renowned massage schools, such as Wat Po Massage and Kyodo Smile.
It’s worth noting that both of these are massage schools, which usually train professionals over the course of several weeks or months, but they also offer workshops that can be completed in a single day.

27. Relax at a meditation workshop
Reach the ultimate point of relaxation in this meditation workshop, which will introduce you to breathing techniques, holistic self-care, and more.
It’s a private 2-hour class, and the teacher can come directly to your accommodation to make the experience feel even more special.
You’ll get to spend your birthday in a state of peace and can take some valuable skills and practices with you for the future.
28. Do a yoga workshop in Lumpini Park
Get close to nature and enjoy Bangkok’s beautiful Lumpini Park by taking part in a yoga class. I love that this class is suitable for all experience levels, even complete beginners, so anyone can join.
Spend your birthday being active but without feeling exhausted afterward. If you’ve been looking for a self-care activity on your special day, yoga in the park is the way to go.

29. Join a Thai flower decorating class
Now, a flower decorating class might not be the first thing that comes to mind when celebrating your birthday in Bangkok, but why not think outside the box and try something new?
This class will not only teach you how to make beautiful Thai flower decorations, you’ll also learn the history and cultural significance behind them, as well as go to a local market.
We had so much fun in this class, and it’s the perfect afternoon activity to do with friends or a partner.
30. Get a tattoo to commemorate your birthday in Bangkok
Whether you’re looking to get a traditional Thai tattoo or one done in a modern tattoo shop, Bangkok is the place to do it. Plus, what better day to remember forever than your birthday?
If you’ve been looking for an excuse to get inked, this is your chance.
We don’t like to recommend tattoo shops since styles and preferences vary so much, so make sure to do your research on an artist before deciding.
Best eSIM For Travellers
Getting a SIM card has never been this easy. We compared dozens of eSIM companies and found the best one.
31. Get a Thai massage
Celebrating your birthday in Bangkok with a traditional Thai massage is a fantastic choice. Thai massages, incorporating techniques like acupressure and stretching, offer not just relaxation but also an authentic Thai cultural experience.
These massages are widely available in serene spas throughout the city, making it a convenient and meaningful way to celebrate your special day while easing travel-related stress.
Prices for a Thai massage in Bangkok typically range from around THB 200 to THB 600, making it an accessible treat.

32. Try a sculpture class with brunch
If Paint and Sip sounds a bit too rowdy, but you still want to create some art on your birthday, you should check out this unique sculpture class, which only exists in Bangkok.
You get to make your own vase version of the iconic David’s Head, but the class is actually much more than that. The vibe was absolutely fantastic, and everyone was so nice, which convinced me that this is the perfect birthday activity in Bangkok.
You’ll love Narek, who leads the workshop and tells you all about life in Bangkok and his unique background.
There is plant-based food, and the morning ended up feeling like I was spending time with old friends. I couldn’t recommend it more

Weird and unusual things to do on your birthday in Bangkok
Birthdays don’t have to be a nice dinner and drinks. If you’re looking for some unusual things to do on your Birthday, we’ve got you covered. These weird and wonderful activities might just surprise you and will hopefully inspire you to try something new.
33. Try Bangkok’s unicorn cafe
Bangkok is famous for its fun and unusual cafes, and we highly recommend the Unicorn Cafe for your birthday celebration. You’ll get to enjoy sweet treats in rainbow colors and take plenty of Instagram pictures (for which we’ve got some fun caption ideas here).
If you’re not ready to order an entire cake for your birthday, the Unicorn Cafe is a great place to go since you can get smaller items, which will be just as delicious.
34. Have dinner in the dark
If going out to a regular restaurant doesn’t sound special enough, you should reserve a table at Dine in the Dark. This is one of Bangkok’s most unusual dining experiences, and your meal will be served completely in the dark.
Enjoy a set menu (also suitable for vegetarians) and focus completely on your other senses as you dine in complete darkness.
This is not only a fun and unusual way to celebrate your birthday in Bangkok, it also supports a good cause, as the restaurant provides employment opportunities for staff with visual impairments.
35. Eat at the Cabbages & Condoms restaurant
Cabbages & Condoms is a quirky condom-themed restaurant, but it’s more than just an unusual place to eat in Bangkok. The restaurant is a non-profit and supports local development, plus the food is actually surprisingly good, considering it’s a popular tourist location.
They also have an on-site gift shop and plenty of photo opportunities.
If you’re into weird places, Cabbages & Condoms is perfect for you.
The Best Way To Experience Thailand
Group tours are an incredibly underrated way to travel and you’ll get to experience Thailand with new friends without any of the stress of planning. Compare the best tours here or check out my all-time favourite below.
36. Dine in a plane at Na-Oh Bangkok
Bangkok has a wide variety of fine-dining restaurants, but Na-Oh stands out not only because of its delicious food but also because of the fact that it’s located inside an airplane.
Decorations are opulent and over-the-top, making this a fun place to celebrate your birthday. From the stuffed polar bears to the lounge in the cockpit, this place is an experience from the moment you set foot in the door.
37. Join a leathermaking class
Make your own birthday present in this fun leathermaking workshop. We tried this with a big group of friends, and it was very fun and relatively easy, which was much appreciated.
You’ll get to leave with your own square leather pouch and new knowledge on how to work with leather.
While there aren’t too many ways to customize your design, it’s still a fun birthday activity for those who love to get crafty.
38. Go to a vegetable carving class
If a cooking class seems boring and too conventional, you might enjoy a vegetable carving class instead. You can definitely be sure that no one else has done this for their birthday in Bangkok before, and you can use your new skills to impress friends and family at home.
The shapes you’ll learn to carve are anything but basic, and you’ll be taught by an experienced carving master, which is why this class is actually quite pricey.
If you’ve been wanting to learn how to transform any fruit or vegetable into an intricate flower, this class is highly recommended.
39. Unleash your inner child in this Lego play class
Yes, you can spend your birthday playing with Legos in Thailand. Whoever came up with this idea is a genius because this might just be the most fun and unusual way to spend your birthday in Bangkok.
The workshop is guided to help you with problem-solving and making your imagination a reality. I was expecting to just play with Legos for a few hours, but the class is actually surprisingly inspiring and educational.
The Best Things In Life Are Free
A free walking tour is the best way to explore Bangkok – click the link below to see the best ones available.
40. Kidmai Death Awareness Cafe
Thinking about death is not something most people like to do on their birthdays, but the Kidmai Death Awareness Cafe makes it a weird and wonderful experience.
The cafe is death-themed, with plenty of spooky decorations, coffins, and interactive exhibits. The food and drinks are, of course, bloody-looking and unique, so you’ll find plenty of Instagram opportunities here.
There is also an escape room on site, which can be a fun activity we explore later on in this post.
41. Go to an animal cafe (ethically)
Animal cafes are popular all around Asia, but unfortunately, they’re not always the most ethical places to visit. We recommend doing research on animal welfare before going to an animal cafe in Bangkok and generally avoiding those with exotic species.
We generally think that cafes with pets like cats, rabbits, and dogs are more ethical than those with raccoons, meerkats, foxes, owls, caracals, or more unusual animals (all of which you can find in animal cafes in Bangkok, by the way).
For this reason, I can’t recommend a specific cafe but urge you to do your own research before you go. Spending your birthday with fluffy friends is definitely a rewarding idea, especially when the cafe supports animals in need with their proceeds.
You can also consider making a donation to an animal welfare organization in Thailand to commemorate your birthday.

42. Join a tufting class
Tufting has become more and more popular in recent years, and workshops are popping up all over the world, including Bangkok. You’ll be given a tufting gun with which you’ll get to make your own fluffy carpet with a unique design.
Get hands-on for your birthday and learn this fun new skill. We highly recommend this class by Fickle Lifestyle, although tufting was a lot harder than it looks. They also offer classes for tufting a handbag or a mirror frame.
And you’ll even get to take your homemade rug home with you as a birthday present to yourself.
OUR TIP
Fickle Lifestyle is the place to go for fun and unusual classes in Bangkok. We also joined their splash painting workshop, which was so fun, and they also offer cookie decorating classes, flip-flop decorating, lamp-shade-making, candle pouring, and neon splash painting.
Activities and action-packed Bangkok birthday ideas
Everyone goes out for dinner on their birthday, but when was the last time you did something crazy that gets your adrenaline pumping? Or maybe you’re looking for a fun activity to do with all your friends that doesn’t necessarily involve alcohol.
Here are the best birthday ideas for unusual and action-packed activities to try around Bangkok.
43. Go to a VR arcade
If you haven’t had a chance to explore the world of VR, you need to try it as soon as possible – it will blow you away.
Going to a VR arcade in Bangkok is a great way to do something fun on your birthday without having to spend a crazy amount of money. An hour of play costs as little as THB 500, and you’ll have unlimited access to all of the games.
From shooting games to roller coasters, agility, or dance, there is something for everyone and for all ages.
We chose Total VR at Gateway Ekamai Mall and had so much fun we ended up coming back again the next day.
44. Try parkour in Bangkok
The beauty of Bangkok is that you can choose from an endless selection of courses, classes, and unusual things to try. Learn to control your body and jump up and down walls with Bangkok Parkour, a small coaching school dedicated to introducing people to the world of parkour.
You can join groups or book a private class for your birthday celebration.
If you love trying new sports and adding a new skill to your portfolio, you’ll love this class.
The Best Rental Car Deals
Discover Cars is the best platform for rental cars, with no hidden costs and fantastic prices.
45. Try surfing at Flow House Bangkok
Did you know you can learn to surf in the heart of Bangkok? Flow House makes it possible and lets you ride waves right in Thailand’s capital city.
They even offer birthday events, and although they’re technically meant for children, they also do adult parties, which include food, decorations, and soft drinks.
If you’re feeling a bit sad that you’re not spending your birthday at one of Thailand’s best islands, this is the perfect place to replace the beach.
46. Go skydiving in Bangkok for your birthday
Get your adrenaline pumping and heart rate up when you jump from a plane at 13,000 feet above the Thai countryside. A skydiving jump is the perfect birthday gift for action-lovers and risk-takers who want to do something unusual and fun.
We highly recommend Skydive Thailand, which is located north-east of Bangkok. There are also a lot of companies around Pattaya, which you could get to on a day trip from Bangkok.
Prices start at around THB 11,400 per jump, including return transport from Bangkok.
47. Watch a Muay Thai boxing match
Watching a Thai boxing match at Rajadamnern Stadium in Bangkok is one of the most awe-inducing experiences you can have in Thailand. Matches are held regularly, so definitely check if there is one on your birthday.
You can choose between different seats, which will vary in price depending on how close they are to the ring. Prices tend to start at around THB 1500 per person.
48. Celebrate your birthday at an escape room in Bangkok
Escape rooms are a fun and interactive way to spend an afternoon, and are especially fun with you’re celebrating your birthday with a group of friends or family. Luckily, Bangkok is one of my favorite places in the world for escape rooms, and there is a great selection to choose from.
Kid Mai Death Awareness Cafe (which we mentioned in list item number 40) has a spooky escape room, which was super fun, and I also enjoyed the Puzzle Room Bangkok, which actually has five rooms to choose from, including a prison and bank robbery-themed one.
Escape rooms are the ultimate birthday activity for a group of friends.
The Best Way To Experience Thailand
Group tours are an incredibly underrated way to travel and you’ll get to experience Thailand with new friends without any of the stress of planning. Compare the best tours here or check out my all-time favourite below.
49. Spend the day go-karting
Have a friendly race with your friends as you zoom through Bangkok’s best cart tracks. Prices start at just THB 600 per race, and there are packages available for larger groups.
We had a ton of fun at EasyKart Bangkok, which has a ton of indoor space and is one of the most popular tracks in the city. You can also go to IMPACT Speed Park, which has an outdoor track, but it’s located further north and may take some time to reach.
50. Go to a trampoline park
Birthday activities that involve moving around and getting active don’t always have to be competitive. Get your blood pumping and heart rate going at one of Bangkok’s best trampoline parks.
I would recommend BOUNCE Thailand, just because they’re the largest and most established trampoline park in Bangkok. JumpZ at ICONSIAM is also fun but perhaps geared a bit more toward children, so keep that in mind if you’re considering coming here for your birthday.
51. Go ice skating in Bangkok on your birthday
Did you know that you can go ice skating year-round in Bangkok? The city might have a hot and tropical climate, but there are actually several ice skating rinks and even a dedicated Bangkok ice hockey team.
Head to The Rink Central World or Sub-Zero Ice Skate Club. I’ve been to the latter, and while it’s not the most modern, they have disco nights and loud music, which makes it super fun with a group of friends.

52. Play minigolf with your friends
Minigolf is the perfect activity for a group of friends and is best accompanied by some drinks and good food. While Bangkok doesn’t have the best selection of mini golf courses, it’s actually home to one of my favorites I’ve ever been to.
The mini golf course at Asoke Sports Club is located on a rooftop, and it’s very modern with 18 holes. They offer birthday packages for larger groups, so reach out to them to make a reservation.
Plus, they also have a ton of other fun sports you can try, including Pickleball, Spikeball, and indoor beach volleyball.
53. Take a Muay Thai lesson
If watching a Muay Thai fight doesn’t sound interesting enough, why not learn how to fight yourself in an elite Muay Thai school?
There is no better place than Bangkok to try this fascinating sport and feel active on your birthday. The lesson includes a private transfer which will take you directly to the gym, and they also provide you with a hand-made pair of Muay Thai shorts, which you can keep at the end of the day.
A new skill and some new shorts? It’s the perfect birthday present for yourself.
54. Go golfing to celebrate your birthday in Bangkok
Looking to splurge on your birthday? Why not play a round of golf on one of Thailand’s best courses?
There are quite a few in and around Bangkok, but if you don’t want to drive too far, I would recommend Bang Na Navy Golf Course, which can be reached in less than 30 minutes from the city center.
The Pine Club, located further outside the city, is also a great choice, as is the Royal Golf & Country Club if you really want to splurge.
Just make sure to budget plenty of spending money, as golf courses in South East Asia are notoriously expensive.
OUR TIP
Not quite ready to spend all that money for a day on the golf course? Head to a driving range instead, which is a lot more beginner-friendly and also far more affordable. Rama 3 Driving Range is a good place to start in Bangkok.
55. Drive quad bikes/ATVs
Get your friends together and join an ATV tour that takes you through the beautiful countryside outside of Bangkok. If you go with Bangkok ATV Adventures, this is a relatively tame tour and even suitable for children, so a great way to spend an afternoon doing something fun without having to worry about safety concerns.
To get your adrenaline pumping and drive fast, book through Party Bangkok instead, who will take you to Nakhon Nayok just an hour outside of the city. They specialize in birthdays, bachelor trips, and group outings and will take care of all the planning for you.
56. Join a Thai dance class
Dive deeper into Thai culture and celebrate your birthday by learning traditional dancing at the beautiful Wat Arun Temple. You’ll be guided through this two-hour experience by an expert teacher, and groups are limited to seven people maximum to make sure you get the best experience possible.
Traditional clothing is provided, and you can even have your lesson outside on the temple lawn to enjoy the stunning surroundings of Wat Arun.
After the class, you’ll get to enjoy some snacks and drinks and learn more about the significance of dance in Thai culture.
57. Go bowling
For a casual and fun birthday celebration in Bangkok, you should go bowling at Blu-O Rhythm & Bowl. They actually have a few bowling alleys in and around Bangkok, but the Siam Paragon branch is the most easily accessible.
Situated in the heart of the city, this venue offers a vibrant atmosphere with neon lights and upbeat music, making it the perfect place to enjoy bowling on your special day. Whether you’re a seasoned bowler or a newcomer, a fun night out with friends promises a unique and memorable birthday experience.

58. Go on a helicopter tour to celebrate your birthday in Bangkok
What better way to celebrate your birthday in Bangkok than to see this beautiful city from above?
A helicopter ride over South East Asia’s second-largest city (only Jakarta is larger) is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you won’t soon forget. While prices are steep, it’s the perfect birthday treat for yourself or someone special in your life.
The ride is 30 minutes, which is relatively long in the world of helicopter trips, and you’ll be picked up and dropped off at your hotel.
59. Go on an e-scooter tour
An e-scooter might not seem like the most adrenaline-pumping vehicle, but exploring Bangkok with your friends on a tour like this can be a very fun experience.
Get to know the city and let your guide take you through vibrant Chinatown, one of the most famous neighborhoods in Bangkok. You can try delicious street food snacks along the way and learn all about the local culture and customs.
The best part? Drinks and snacks are included in the price.
60. Go to a shooting range
Those needing a real rush should consider spending their birthday at the Bangkok Shooting Range. Their weapons selection is impressive, and although prices are steep, the experience is fun and safe.
Make sure to book a slot before you go and double-check current prices, as they frequently offer discount packages.
You can check their gun selection on the website.
61. Go rock climbing
Rock climbing enthusiasts tend to be very passionate about their hobby, so if you’re a climbing lover, you’re going to want to spend your birthday scaling a wall.
Luckily, Bangkok is a prime spot when it comes to climbing gyms, and both Urban Playground Climbing and Stonegoat Climbing Gym are top choices for your birthday celebrations.
Choose between bouldering and rock climbing, and bring your friends along to the birthday celebration of a lifetime.
62. Play Paintball
Celebrate your birthday with a bang in Bangkok by playing paintball. It’s not just fun; it’s an unforgettable experience that brings friends and family together in exciting ways. Imagine the adrenaline rush as you dodge paintballs, plan tactics, and enjoy a day filled with laughter and competition.
With a range of game modes and the vibrant Bangkok scenery as your playground, your birthday celebration will be a blast. There are several paintball courses to choose from in the city, and we went to BB Gun & Paint Ball RAP.11, which was a great experience.
They also offer BB gun rentals, so you get to try different things in one day if you like.
63. Join this fun backstreets and hidden gems bike tour
Picture yourself cycling through the alleyways of Bangkok, getting to know a side of the city that most tourists will never see.
Discover Bangkok like a local on a guided bike tour through Thonburi and Chomthong, including a visit to a local farm and snacks along the way.
Explore hidden markets, temples, and backstreets with your guide, who will tell you all about the history and significance of each place. Enjoy a break at a cozy café before cycling to a lush plantation farm with coconut, mango, and banana trees.

64. Go urban exploring in Bangkok
Bangkok is a fantastic place to go urban exploring, even though the iconic Ghost Tower is no longer accessible.
Wander through abandoned places and discover a hidden side of Bangkok that has been undisturbed for years. If you’re looking for an exciting adventure for your birthday, this is the perfect choice.
Just make sure not to break any rules or take unneccesary risks. Urban exploring can be a bit of a gray zone when it comes to legality, so we don’t like to recommend specific places to go. You’ll find plenty of recommendations online, and you can always ask around to find out where it’s okay to go and where you should stay away from.
65. Spend the day at Pororo Aqua Park or Siam Amazing Park
Celebrate your birthday at one of Bangkok’s best water parks. Spend the day enjoying a wide selection of waterslides, wave pools, and even roller coasters if you’re going to Siam Amazing Park.
Pororo Aqua Park is another great option and is also quite a bit cheaper. Siam Amazing Park has the world’s largest wave pool, though, and is larger, so it is worth the extra money in my experience.
If the weather is extra hot in Bangkok and you want to cool off on your birthday, a day at the waterpark might be just what you need.
Cultural and sightseeing Bangkok birthday ideas
If you’re only in Bangkok for a short time, you’ll want to do something special for your birthday that allows you to get to know the city and the culture at the same time.
Here are some touristy things to do on your special day so you’ll fall in love with Thailand all over again.
The Best Rental Car Deals
Discover Cars is the best platform for rental cars, with no hidden costs and fantastic prices.
66. Go on a photography tour of Bangkok
Bangkok is a photographer’s dream, especially if you have a polarizer for your camera. A guided tour is the perfect way to make sure you’re seeing the best Instagrammable places in the city with the help of an experienced local guide.
Stop by famous temples and hop on a riverboat to take some shots from a different perspective.
You’ll get to remember your birthday in Bangkok forever with the beautiful pictures you just took.

67. Go on a customized longtail boat tour
Bangkok’s beautiful canals and river make this city truly special. River cruises are very common in Bangkok, but they’re also prone to scams. If you book one with a vendor by the river side, you’ll definitely be overpaying by a lot.
But if you book this private tour in advance, it can be quite a bit cheaper, especially if you have a group of five or six people. You won’t have to share the boat with others and can spend your birthday cruising the rivers of Bangkok, exploring small canals, and stopping at a small riverside cafe for lunch.
Your captain can help recommend one.

68. Go on a day trip to Pattaya
Pattaya is just as wild as Bangkok but with plenty of beautiful beaches. You can get there in under two hours, and it’s the perfect place to go if you’re craving the ocean on your birthday.
To avoid having to deal with drivers or other types of transportation, I would recommend pre-booking this day trip tour, which includes a pickup and dropoff at your hotel, return transport to Pattaya, and even lunch.
Spend the day exploring the local sights, including temples, museums, and even a floating market.
69. Get a holy tattoo at Wat Bang Phra
Getting a tattoo was on our list of things to do in Bangkok on your birthday, but you can go a step further and get a Sak Yant or holy tattoo at Wat Brang Phra Temple.
The five lines carry a unique meaning and aren’t meant to protect the wearer and bring good luck. If that doesn’t sound like a great birthday present for yourself, then I don’t know what is.
70. Ask for a wish at the Erawan Shrine
Erawan Shrine, located in the heart of Bangkok, is a symbol of spirituality and devotion, and people traditionally come here to ask for a wish. If you don’t get to blow out a birthday candle this year, this is your chance to still make your wish come true.
The shrine is adorned with intricate Thai architecture and offers a serene escape from the bustling streets of the city. It’s a place where locals and tourists alike come to make offerings and seek blessings.
Whether you’re interested in the religious significance or simply want to witness the cultural beauty of Thailand, the Erawan Shrine provides a unique and peaceful experience right in the center of this dynamic metropolis.

71. Explore Bangkok’s most beautiful temples on your birthday
Get in touch with Thai culture and enjoy the serenity and beauty of Bangkok’s best temples. You can opt to hire a tour guide to explain the historical significance of these architectural masterpieces to you, or you can explore independently.
Just remember to be respectful and follow the dress code, which includes covering your legs and shoulders.
Some of the best temples in Bangkok include Wat Pra Kaew, Wat Arun, the famous Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho, and Wat Saket.

72. Go shopping at Chatuchak Weekend Market
Chatuchak Weekend Market is a huge market that spans 35 acres. It takes place every weekend, and you can buy almost anything imaginable here, including souvenirs, clothing, electronics, flowers, furniture, and much more.
With over 15,000 stalls, this is the perfect place to spend an afternoon shopping for birthday presents for yourself or a loved one.
It’s the largest weekend market in the world and is located just a quick drive from the city center, so it’s a must-visit when you go to Bangkok.

73. Learn about Thai history at the National Museum Bangkok
Everyone likes to spend their birthday differently, and if you’re someone who enjoys learning about history, you’ll have a great time at the National Museum Bangkok.
It’s actually one of the largest museums in South East Asia, and the collection of artifacts is more than impressive. Spend the day strolling through the exhibits and admiring the beautiful architecture. The museum is located inside a former palace and was established all the way back in 1874.
Its collections include a UNESCO World Heritage inscription and permanent exhibits about archeology, history, and decorative arts.
74. Climb the Baiyoke Tower II
Get the best view of Bangkok and see the city from above at the famous Baiyoke Tower II. We always pre-book tickets to the observation deck and revolving viewpoint to avoid to lines. Plus, you’ll get a free drink at the rooftop bar, which is a bonus.
If you want to splurge on your birthday, you should book this dinner experience, which includes a romantic setup on the balcony of the tower, overlooking Bangkok’s glittering lights. If that isn’t a great way to celebrate your birthday, I don’t know what is.

75. Visit the floating markets in and around Bangkok
A trip to Bangkok isn’t complete without visiting at least one floating market. Some can definitely be a bit touristy, but others, usually located further outside of the city, are more authentic.
To celebrate your birthday, hop on a longtail boat in Bangkok or book a tour to a market outside of the city center, which you can visit on a day trip excursion.
I really enjoyed this tour, which also takes you to the Maekong Railway Market, the famous market where a train drives through, which I found even more impressive than the many floating shop stalls.

76. Relax at Lumpini Park
Lumpini Park is one of Bangkok’s most beautiful slices of nature and a great place to get a breath of fresh air if the city’s been feeling a bit crowded. Earlier on in this article, we mentioned my favorite yoga class, which is held in the park, but that’s not the only thing that makes Lumpini Park special.
You can rent a rowboat and explore the park’s lake or have a picnic somewhere on the lawn. Bangkok may not have a lot of nature, but Lumpini Park is a great place to spend some time.

77. Go on a Michelin guide street food tour by tuk tuk
Bangkok is world-famous for its Michelin-recommended street food, which makes for the perfect birthday treat. Hop in a colorful tuk-tuk and let yourself be whisked through the busy streets of Bangkok while trying delicious treats along the way.
The restaurants you’ll be stopping at are hand-picked, and each one is better than the next. Celebrate your special day right and get spoiled with world-class food.
