Why you should trust my ratings of the best hotels in Nusa Penida

Hi, I’m Victoria – the author of this article and founder of Guide your Travel. I’ve been living in Bali off and on for several years now, and before that used to come here very frequently as a tourist. The island is now my home, and I spend a lot of time researching new places and things to do. Hotels are my favourite, and reviewing them has become part of my job. I even publish detailed recommendation guides like this one on Uma Kalai, a beautiful boutique resort in Ubud, or Rama Homestay in Nusa Penida.

I make sure to try as many hotels as possible myself and only mention those I can personally recommend. With years of experience as a travel blogger and full-time traveller, I definitely know what to look out for when it comes to accommodation. Plus, I’m now a managing partner of one of Bali’s leading digital marketing agencies in the hospitality sector, so I get a unique perspective on how hotels here attract clients and which ones truly provide value.

I’ve stayed at a lot of different hotels in Nusa Penida, but going to every single one is, of course, not possible. To make sure this post is accurate and helpful, we got the opinions of some other Bali experts and longtime residents who have been to Nusa Penida countless times, most importantly Julie Leclercq, whose experiences were extremely valuable.

1. Visit Diamond and Atuh Beach

Diamond Beach and Atuh Beach showcase the epitome of paradise with their pristine sandy shores, dramatic cliffs, and crystal-clear waters, offering a truly breathtaking experience in Nusa Penida.

Tembeling Beach and its natural pools in Nusa Penida provide a hidden oasis amidst lush jungles, where visitors can go for a refreshing swim in the freshwater pools and enjoy the untouched beauty of a secluded beach.

4. Enjoy the view at Rumah Pohon Treehouse

Rumah Pohon Treehouse and the Thousand Island Viewpoint offer stunning views of Nusa Penida’s impressive cliffs. You can even stay in the treehouse, but the accommodation is very basic and definitely not the best in Nusa Penida. The view makes up for it, though.

5. Visit Kelingking Beach

Kelingking Beach is Nusa Penida’s most famous beach and a common place to take incredible pictures. It may be crowded, but the views are definitely worth it, especially if you climb all the way down.

6. Plant coral

Nusa Penida has several coral planting organisations where you can join in and plant coral as a diver or snorkeller. Definitely check them out and consider volunteering to help Bali’s coral reefs.
