You’ll be picked up from your hotel in the morning and returned in the evening, so there’s nothing between you and meeting new friends other than a fun day packed with activities.

Knights is Bali’s most popular chess bar and the perfect place for solo travellers looking to make new friends while enjoying a game of chess. Located in the bustling Canggu neighbourhood, this vibrant bar has become a popular hangout spot for both locals and tourists alike. Most groups go to breakfast together or grab some coffee afterwards, so you’ll be in great company.

9. Check out one of Bali’s many beach bars for sunset drinks and conversations

Bali is well-known for its spectacular sunsets, and what better way to enjoy them than with a refreshing drink in hand at one of the many beach bars dotted around the island? If you’re looking for unusual ways to meet people in Bali, you should try the Paint and Sip class. There are always events going on at different venues, so keep an eye out.

Our absolute favourite place for Paint and Sip is definitely Creative Art Bar in Seminyak. They usually ave several classes every week, and sometimes even host drag shows, which makes the experience extra fun.

You’ll get instructions from an expert painting teacher, and a free drink on arrival. Plus, they’ve got a fully stocked bar, so you can enjoy cocktails, beers, wine and much more while you get creative.

You’ll be joined by a diverse group of travellers and expats for an exciting evening of art and wine. Even if you’re coming here alone, you won’t have trouble finding friends, and the friendly staff and teachers will be ready to show you around.

16. Try coliving or a shared villa to meet other travellers

Language classes are affordable and fun, especially if you join a group. Expect to pay around IDR 70,000 to IDR 120,000 (~ €4.30 to €7.30) per hour, depending on the group size and level. If you’re around others trying to learn Bahasa Indonesia, you’ll find friends in Bali in no time.

If you’re overwhelmed at the thought of travelling solo but still want to make the most out of your next adventure, one great way to break the ice is by joining a pottery class in Bali. 19. Discover Komodo National Park as part of a group

Komodo National Park is an ideal destination for tourists looking to explore the beauty of Indonesia and its unique wildlife. Located a few islands over from Bali, Komodo National Park is home to a variety of species, including the famous Komodo dragon. At the Komodo National Park, there are plenty of activities for tourists to enjoy. From taking a hike and spotting wildlife to snorkelling with colourful fish in crystal-clear waters – there is something for everyone.

The only way to see Komodo is by boat, and there are different types of tours to choose from, some departing from Lombok and others from Labuan Bajo.

Both are good options to meet people, but my secret favourites are the tours from Labuan Bajo because you’ll get to see more of the national park along the way. You can book a day trip, but a liveaboard is the best choice by far and makes more sense when you look at the pricing.

If you’re looking to volunteer in Bali, there are plenty of activities that will make a meaningful impact. From beach cleanups and picking up plastic along the shoreline to helping out at soup kitchens or sea turtle conservation efforts, you can make a real difference. All it takes is some time, effort and dedication!

With the vast array of volunteer opportunities available, you can easily find something that fits your skills and interests. Plus, this is a great way to meet other travellers and even find a travel buddy during your time in Bali. So what are you waiting for?
